The Massachusetts Forest and Park Friends Network is a grassroots organization of volunteer Friends networking for greater advocacy, better protection and enhancement of Massachusetts’ forests, parks, beaches and trails. The Friends Network facilitates communication between Friends groups, all volunteers to state parklands and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Parklands thrive under the special care that Friends groups provide.

Nominate a Volunteer for the Massachusetts Forest and Park Friends Network 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award.

This award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated exemplary volunteerism benefiting a Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) forest, park, beach or trail. Each has demonstrated an actual accomplishment achieved through the work of volunteering. Awardees manifest the ability to mobilize other volunteers and display a willingness for on-going involvement. The recipients demonstrate vision, vitality, determination, selflessness, generosity in the care of a DCR properties.

Nominate a DCR Employee for the Massachusetts Forest and Park Friends Network 2017 DCR Friend of the Year Award.

This award is presented annually to DCR employees who demonstrate a high level of job performance, a love of DCR forests, parks and trails, and encourages Friends groups, volunteers and community involvement. The recipients of this award consistently perform above and beyond his or her job description. Each person has demonstrated the values of teamwork, partnership and collaboration. Each one displays the willingness to work with volunteers for the benefit of a DCR property or properties and encourages greater community involvement in the care of public lands.
